September 2026 car sales: Maruti up 24%, Kia surges while most top makers dip month-on-month

Maruti Suzuki's total sales rose 24.4% year-on-year to 2,36,013 units in September 2026, while Tata Motors' commercial vehicle sales jumped 42%. Passenger vehicle dispatches stayed around 4 lakh units.

FADA: record August auto retail; CNG, hybrid and EV cars overtake petrol share

Vehicle registrations rose 17.51% to 24.23 lakh units in August 2026, FADA said on 7 September. Passenger vehicle retail crossed 4 lakh for the first time in August, and alternative fuels outsold petrol cars.
