The Maharashtra Cabinet led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took five major decisions at its meeting on 22 September 2026, with drought relief at the top of the agenda.

1. Sub-committee for drought relief

A Cabinet sub-committee headed by the Revenue Minister has been formed to speed up drought relief across the state. It has been given powers to take quick decisions when drought conditions demand urgent action. A preliminary notification was to be issued by the following Saturday, and ministers were asked to visit dams to assess water stocks and speed up help to farmers.

2. Developed plots for Mumbai Metro project-affected farmers

Farmers of Mogharpada village in Thane district, whose land (Survey No. 30) was used for the integrated car depot of Mumbai Metro Lines 4, 4A and 10, will receive developed plots with ownership rights. Plots will be allotted in the proportions of 22.5% and 12.5% of the developed land, as per the approved formula.

3. Cluster redevelopment of MHADA buildings in Khar

Old and dilapidated MHADA buildings in Ramakrishnagar, Khar (West) in Mumbai were approved for integrated cluster redevelopment, aimed at giving residents safer housing and better civic infrastructure.

4. Change in land reservation in Dhule

The playground and garden reservation on Survey No. 103 at Devpur, within Dhule Municipal Corporation limits, was cancelled and the land reclassified into the public/semi-public category.

5. Agriculture department structure

A revised organisational structure for the agriculture department was withdrawn. The structure approved in 2009 will continue for now, until a full review of workload and staffing is completed.
